CHICAGO
Welcome to the Windy city which it is important to know in theory is divided
into the North Side whose residents support one of two baseball teams
called the Cubs and the South Side whose residents support The White Sox.
When you relocate to Chicago, you need to choose one team or the other,
but not both. Luckily, all of the other major sports each have only one
team as Chicagoans take huge pride in their teams from The Bulls Basketball
team (with the famous Michael Jordan), to their Football team, The Bears
and their Hockey Team, The Blackhawks.
The downtown ‘Loop’ is surrounded by a train system on elevated
tracks. It runs 24-hours a day and easily takes commuters around the city.
Chicago is not a city where you want to necessarily have a car as parking
is illegal in the Loop. The elevated train is the best way to get around
the city as well as walking. Chicago is a manageable city with Michigan
Avenue as one of its main throughways to navigate your way around. Chicago’s
fire in 1871 fire destroyed most of the city until architects came along
and rebuilt it better than ever with a distinct style that included the
world's first skyscrapers. A good number of these buildings survive to
this day and make Chicago a great town for a walking tour.
Chicago has many distinct neighborhoods to in which to live from citified
living like Lincoln Park to the North to suburbs like Naperville to the
West. Your relocation specialist will walk you through each one that might
you’re your needs, depending on commute and lifestyle essentials.
Also in the spring, summer and autumn you will find a plethora of neighborhood
and city festivals each and every weekend. There are many world class
museums, a beautiful and vibrant lakefront, plus many lush city parks.
There are great places to shop, and neighborhoods loaded with character
to people watch. Chicago is also home to some of the country's most significant
architecture. If you are seeking a stimulating environment, this is one
great city to live!
